It was a gorgeous day today. I bought my lunch and ate outside and soaked up the sun… and to warm up. The a/c came on just before noon and it sounds like a jet plane in my office, not to mention cold. The addition is coming along. The windows are up, just need the rest of the siding, the electrical, the sheetrock, paint, carpet. I know there are a few inspections in there somewhere. I am so excited, I can’t wait until it’s finished!

I’ve been quite remiss – or is it amiss… whichever, in posting. A whole week. Last week was about pending lay offs. A friend of mine was reduced to 50%. It’s not worth it for him to stay, so he has decided to be laid off. It’s really sad because he is such a bright and engaging individual. The College is worse off without him. I haven’t heard much of anything else, just bits and pieces.

I don’t remember what happend Thursday or Friday. My memory has gotten is that short. It sucks to age. I do remember we celebrated my brother-in-laws birthday Friday night with Chinese take-out, and writing a $4K+ check to our contractor (gag).

The addition is coming along. It’s no longer a replacement patio, or an enclosed patio, but an addition. It’s coming along nicely. The concrete was poured last week, the two other walls are up, the French doors are in (for now), and most of the siding. The roofers came in Tuesday morning and I had roofing by lunchtime. Yes, it’s coming along nicely. All we’re waiting for are the windows and the electrician’s estimate. After that, we’ll have sheetrock up and be able to refinance. Yea!

I worked out in the yard Monday, clearing out the flower bed in front of the main window. It was mainly a de-grassing and de-perpetuate flowering project. I was out there about six hours total and had four garbage bags full – and I only got as far as the front door! There’s still two-thirds of the flowerbeds left to do! I’m not sure when I’ll get the ambition to do it again seeing as how I’m still paying for it today. I’m still very sore; my butt hurts, so it hurts to sit and hurts to stand. My right arm from the carpal tunnel to the elbow was very sore in the mornings. If I can’t get to it this weekend, I may not get back to it until July just because June is a crazy-busy month between me and the hubby.

Today was the start of something ugly. Today we noted that some of our collegues were being called in to be told their hours were being cut or worse, laid off.

Another day at work, more scuttlebut and rumors. I hope we hear something from our administrators soon. The rumor mills are going berzerk.

I didn’t get a very good night’s sleep last night. Logan woke me up around 1:30a. I think I fell asleep on the couch for a few minutes right after I finished my dinner. I’m awake, but tired. Vanessa was so uncooperative at school today that grandma had to pick her up from school this morning. She got her iPod taken away.

Oop, there goes Logan and it’s almost midnight.

Chris and I had to take both kids to see the Neurologist at Children’s today. Boy, was that an adventure in itself. Vanessa didn’t want to be there and acted sick the entire time. Logan didn’t want to be there either, so he kept having drop down tantrums. I mean on-the-floor-kicking-and-screaming tantrums. I’m so glad that Chris was there. Since both had an appointment, both had to get checked in. The gal at check-in wasn’t finished checking in Vanessa by the time they called Logan. Since Logan was somewhat new, I had to make sure some paperwork was completed. Chris was working with Logan to get to get his vitals checked, Vanessa was acting sick and wasn’t very cooperative getting her vitals, and I had to finish check-in paperwork all at the same time. It was a circus. The appointment itself went well. Logan had to get his blood drawn; he’ll have a bruise in one arm. Chris went in with him to hold him, another nurse had to hold his arms down, while another nurse drew blood. Poor baby! On top of that, he still had to go to school.

Me, Chris, Vanessa, and uncle Jeremy went to see Star Trek later that afternoon. That is a good movie.

We came home and the concrete guys were just finishing up smoothing out the concrete, but then it started to drizzle. We called our contractor about putting up tarp to help keep the area dry so the cement would have a better chance to set. Darn if it didn’t quite do the trick. We noticed there was dripping and the concrete hadn’t completely set because there were drips coming from the roof and there was a “dip” in the concrete. It’s small, but still, darn! I can’t wait till this is over and done with so I can have workspace!

I swear, there must’ve been a full moon. The students are coming out in droves! Well, mid-terms did just happen. Yesterday, I needed to veg when I got home. No computer at all. Just mindless entertainment thanks to my Xbox. Tonight was about the same, but instead I turned to the dumb box. Oh, woe is me. Tomorrow is another day, and it’s Friday. TGIF! I am soo ready for the weekend to be here.

Egads! What a day. L is not sleeping through the night and it’s making me tired during the day. He didn’t get a nap on Sunday (Mother’s Day), yet he still manages to wake up at 1:30a. Last night it was 3:30a, and Chris wanted to go to the College in the morning before work @ 4:30a. Thank goodness my mother-in-law fed us. There was no way I would be able to put something decent together.

I got to catch up with my Arbonne upline, Aimee. I asked her to sub for interpreting at the College, but the student e-mailed me that she wasn’t feeling well and was a no-show, so we chatted for a little bit. It was really nice.

I had a good weekend with it being Mother’s Day and all. I was served breakfast Sunday morning. Usually, I make the “Sunday” breakfast which consists of eggs, bacon and pancakes. This time, hubby made a breakfast sandwich. Yummy! I played Lode Runner on the X-Box almost the entire weekend. What I should have done was update my contact list from everyone that stopped by my table at the Health Fair and begin calling all those people. I was thinking I could do this tonight, but I subbed for my mother-in-law’s Gin Rummy group, so nix that idea. Hopefully tomorrow night.

I opened my Seattle City Light bill. That nearly floored me. I think I need to start making a bi-weekly payment plan.

Hubby and I went to see the new Star Trek movie; it was great! This movie gives an opportunity to refresh the franchise. The only catch is: everything you knew about the Star Trek universe is now going to be different if they do another movie.

A full moon must be on the horizon. Today was… well, I’m not sure how to explain it, but my boss and I were mentally tired by lunchtime, nearly exhausted by the end of the day.

I started to try my hand at knitting today. I received a kit from Creative Home Arts Club. Boy, whoever put thought about putting this kit together needs to be fired. This is supposed to be for knitters of all types, including beginners like me. The instructions were terrible and they gave me the “hairy” yarn. This was not yarn for a beginner. Luckily I have a very good and patient friend, Annalee, that is a terrific knitter and she showed me how to get started this morning. Of course, by the time I got home and tried to continue, I really messed up and had to start over. I’m kind of afraid to move on without her present so she can fix my dropped stitches. I will learn… eventually. Tomorrow is Star Trek!
